This was a glorious period for the club, having dominated domestic and European football for the best part of a decade, but this was a season of disappointment as they finished runners up in almost every competition – the league, the European Cup, Super Cup, Charity Shield and Intercontinental Cup. They still had a squad full of legends including Lawrenson, Beglin, Hansen, Whelan, King Kenny Dalglish, Ian Rush and Danish maestro Jan Mølby who’s most used squad number is on the back of this shirt. This is a Japanese market issue shirt from the era. Throughout the 1980’s and 1990’s, Europe based manufacturers like Umbro, adidas and Kappa licensed out production of certain kits (usually just the bigger clubs, or teams represented by iconic players) to Japanese based manufacturers, for sale on the Japanese market. These kits are highly collectible as they were not mass produced in the same quantities as the European market shirts. Some Japanese market shirts would differ slightly from the European market shirts.
In Good vintage, worn condition compared to similar shirts of this age. There is wear to the material on the back, and also near the crest, which looks to have been repaired, but otherwise very good.
Size Adults Medium equivalent. Jaspo L, which was Japanese market sizing from the era. Pit to pit is 49cm, and length from top of shoulder to hem is 71cm.
