This was a glorious period for the club, having dominated domestic and European football for the best part of a decade, and they added another League and Cup double this season. They still had a squad full of legends including Lawrenson, Beglin, Hansen, Whelan, Ian Rush and King Kenny Dalglish, who’s most used squad number is on the back of this shirt. He was now Player-manager. This is a Japanese market issue shirt from the era. Throughout the 1980’s and 1990’s, Europe based manufacturers like Umbro, adidas and Kappa licensed out production of certain kits (usually just the bigger clubs, or teams represented by iconic players) to Japanese based manufacturers, for sale on the Japanese market. These kits are highly collectible as they were not mass produced in the same quantities as the European market shirts. Some Japanese market shirts would differ slightly from the European market shirts.
In Good vintage, worn condition compared to similar shirts of this age. There is a yellow mark around the crest, in the shape of number “5”. It is common enough with Japanese market shirts that they have been altered by previous owners. Rest of shirt is excellent.
Size Adults Medium equivalent. Jaspo L, which was Japanese market sizing from the era. Pit to pit is 49cm, and length from top of shoulder to hem is 73cm.
